Track Name: A Darker Shade of Blue
Lights are coming on in every street in town
I love to sit and watch the sun go down
I never knew a darker shade of blue
Until I lost the sweetest thing I’d found
Well, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes

Cracking up while the world is cracking down
I can't get my feet back on the ground
If there was a way to be with you today
I'd stay with you and watch the stars spin round
Well, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes

Back on the streets again
Back in defeat again
Back where the lights of love go rushing by
Back on the road again
Back on my own again
I wish I could be where the sun is high
I’d love to see you when the sun is high

Wind is coming up, sends shivers down my spine
Midnight’s gonna stay with me, the perfect time
And all that I can do is sit and think of you
And wish there was a way that I could make you mine
Well, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes

Back on the streets again
Back in defeat again
Back where the lights of love go rushing by
Back on the road again
Back on my own again
I wish I could be where the sun is high
I’d love to see you when the sun is high
Track Name: Can't Have Love
Four AM. Lying in bed with the lights off, honey
Waiting for your footsteps on the stair below
And I don't know where you been or who you been with
Tell the truth I don’t really want to know

You give me promises
That sound like lies
Oh-oh

If I can't have love
I don't want anything from you
If I can't have love, if I can't have love
If I can't have love
I don't want anything from you
If I can't have love, if I can't have love

Sometimes I think back to the good times, honey
Waiting for the sun to rise and bring you home
I once thought I couldn’t live without you
But nights like these I would rather be alone

You give me promises
They sound like lies
Oh-oh

If I can't have love
I don't want anything from you
If I can't have love, if I can't have love
If I can't have love
I don't want anything from you
If I can't have love, if I can't have love

Maybe I could get down in my knees and pray
Maybe I could find the words to make you stay
But baby I can't take another day
Oh oh

If I can't have love
I don't want anything from you
If I can't have love, if I can't have love
If I can't have love
I don't want anything from you
If I can't have love, if I can't have love
Track Name: Almost Over
I remember when I was the sweetest thing you ever knew
I remember when I was the storm that raged, the wind that blew
I remember when I wasn't waiting for the other shoe
To drop from you
I remember when love was new

But it's almost over
Almost over
Almost over
Almost

Every now and then I see a face of love that I once knew
Every now and then I tell myself that we’ll pull through
Every now and then I wonder what the hell has happened to
The girl I knew
Every now and then love turns blue

‘Cause it's almost over
Almost over
Almost over
Almost

Time and time again I wonder why love has to die
Is there nothing I can do?
Time and time again I hear you lie, telling me you’ll try
But I know that I’m watching you
Fade from view

It's almost over
Almost over
Almost over
Almost
Track Name: Higher
Wrap your arms around me and close your eyes real tight
Forget about the darkness that surrounds you
Lock up the doors against the coming of the night
Until the light of dawn once more has found you

This day has brought you lower than I’ve ever seen before
But take my hand and stay with me tonight
And I will take you

Higher than the storm that rages in the dark
Higher than the waves that drag you down
Higher that the walls you build around your heart
Higher
Higher

Slip of your troubles with that dress that you still wear
Let it fall down from your shoulders to the ground
Shake out the worries with the tangles in your hair
Lay yourself beside me with no sound

Let the fire burn low
Let the dance begin
Let my fingers trace the scars of love upon your skin
And take you

Higher than the storm that rages in the dark
Higher than the waves that drag you down
Higher that the walls you build around your heart
Higher
Higher
Track Name: Don't Fool Me
Baby, baby, put your head upon my shoulder
Close your eyes and go to sleep
Sick and tired of feeling old and acting older
You just had to make a leap
Packed your bags while he was sleeping
Walked right out the bedroom door
You say that you’re leaving
And you’re never going home
But it don’t fool me.

Drove all night to get to nowhere by the morning
Watched the dawn turn night to day
Flicked the headlights off and parked up by the motel
Felt like nothing left to say
But as you showered I was thinking
Of everything you left behind
You say that it’s over
And you’ve nothing left to lose
But it don’t fool me.

‘Cause every reason that you give me
Begins and ends with nothing changed
You say that you love me
More than I will ever know
But it don’t fool me.

When I woke up you were nowhere
Just a crumple in the sheet
And you say that you did the right thing
For my sanity
But it don’t fool me
No, it don’t fool me
No, it don’t fool me
Track Name: On Valentine's Day
That winter was colder far than any that I remember.
Snow fell on snow and turned to ice where it lay.
The girl lived above me and the last time I saw her
Was two or three days before Valentine's Day.

The sound of her typewriter was loud sometimes late at night
And I heard her cry once or twice in the day
Each morning I watched her as she walked to the telephone
And shivered there talking, to who I can't say.

That afternoon she played the same record endlessly
Into the night - it wasn’t easy to bear.
I woke the next morning to the cries of the children
At a window left open to the cold morning air.

We broke down the front door with the help of a passer-by
The smell of the gas so strong it made our throats raw
We found bread for the toddler and milk for the baby
And a towel soaked with water jammed under the door

They closed the doors gently on the back of the ambulance.
My breath froze before me as they drove her away.
A day or two later her husband came by
And moved in his mistress, on Valentine's Day.

I think of her now and them, and how she would talk to me,
A foolish old man with my hair turned to gray.
And somewhere I still have the card that I bought,
Half-meaning to give her on Valentine's Day.
Yes, somewhere I still have the card that I bought
Half-meaning to give her on Valentine’s Day.
Track Name: How'm I Going to Get Over?
Never knew love ‘til I heard your voice
Sweet and low, singing in the wire
Calling me to the ocean deep
I dove in as the waves grew higher
I remember every kiss, how the touch of your hand
On my skin could drown me in desire
Drank my fill in the sea of love
Every sip I took my lips grew dryer

How'm I going to get over,
How'm I going to get over you?

Followed you where the four winds blew
To the ends of the earth and in-between
Made my bed where I lay with you
But my pillow was a guillotine
Crossed every river I came to
Burned up every single bridge I ever seen
Left me here in a house of flame
Putting out the fire with gasoline

How’m I going to get over
How’m I going to get over
Hardly going to get over
Feel I’m going to go under
Never going to get over
How’m I going to get over you?
Track Name: The Girl With No Name
Big boots and long black hair
She caught my eye as she was standing there
Seemed to me she was looking for a reaction
I moved closer to that perfect skin
Smelled cigarettes and some weird sin
I can’t deny I felt a certain animal attraction

I said, I don't know if I love you
But I think I'd like to know your name

She said, "Listen, junior, you got big ideas
But you seem a little wet behind the ears,
So allow me to explain this here transaction.
I don't need a lover or a ticket to ride
I don’t need to know how many tears you cried
All I need is a man who can give me satisfaction.

And I might let you love me
But I don’t need to know your name
And another thing boy…

If you want to love me
You better get down on your knees
Say a little prayer for your soul”
Well, you better believe
I got down on my knees
And said a little prayer for my soul
And it went like this...

Well she showed me what the night was for
But when I picked myself up off that kitchen floor
She was gone and she left no forwarding instruction
Well, I miss that girl and the way she moved
But I guess I do feel kind of abused
‘Cause I never got a f-f-formal introduction

And, I think I could have loved her
But I never even knew her name
Yes, I think I could have loved her
But I never even knew her name
She said “I’ll might let you love me
But I don’t need to know your name.
I’m gonna let you love me
But I don’t need to know your name”.
